CURVE, Pa. - Altoona Curve outfielder Jordan Luplow has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

CURVE, Pa. - Altoona Curve outfielder Jordan Luplow has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Luplow was selected as the league's top player for May 29-June 4. The selection marks the first weekly award pick for a Curve player this season and the second of Luplow's career.
The Visalia, Calif. native hit safely in all seven games during the week, posting a .423 average (11-for-26) with five home runs, two doubles, four walks, eight runs scored, six RBIs and a stolen base.
With his five homers, Luplow tied Reading's Mitch Walding and Houston's George Springer for the most home runs in all of professional baseball during that stretch.
Luplow crushes his 11th home run
He began the week with two solo home runs last Monday at Erie, his second multi-home run game of the season, and followed with another solo homer on Tuesday at home against Akron.
Luplow closed out the weekend with solo home runs in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday at Bowie.
Selected in the third round by the Pirates in 2014 out of Fresno State, Luplow is batting .294 for the season and has driven in 25 runs across 51 games. He already set a new career high with 13 home runs, third-most in the Eastern League, surpassing his previous high of 12 with the West Virginia Power in 2015.

Luplow ranks second in the league in slugging percentage (.588), third in runs scored (34), fourth in extra-base hits (26) and third in HR/AB ratio (1/13.62).
The 23-year-old left fielder is in his first season at Double-A. He was also selected as the South Atlantic League Player of the Week in August 2015.
After a three-game road series at Harrisburg, the Curve return home to Peoples Natural Gas Field on Friday to begin a six-game homestand against Richmond and Portland. On Friday, the first 1,500 fans will take home a Josh Bell "I Gotta Have More Cowbell" bobblehead, presented by Nuts for You, followed by spectacular fireworks shows on Saturday and Sunday.
