Madison Bumgarner, a Homegrown Giant currently in his ninth big-league season, began his storied career in the Giants organization after being selected in the first round of the 2007 draft. Bumgarner made five starts with the San Jose Giants in 2009, where he went 3-1 with a 1.48 ERA. He would make his major league debut later that season on September 8. 2009.
Bumgarner, a four-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger, became a postseason legend during the 2014 World Series run, when he pitched a record-setting 52.2 innings, capping off his World Series MVP performance with a five-inning save in Game 7. He also played pivotal roles on the 2010 and 2012 World Series runs.
Madison Bumgarner pitched four innings in his rehab assignment Wednesday, July 5 against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and threw 76 pitches. It was Bumgarner's first appearance at Municipal Stadium since 2009, when he made five starts for the San Jose Giants. Bumgarner would later debut in the Major Leagues that September.
