“Shoulder’s feeling really good,” Marinaccio told the media after his outing, recovering from right shoulder inflammation which landed him on the Yankees injured list on July 3. “It's been a bit since I’ve had to think about it and when you start to realize you’re getting back to 100% is when it's not even in the back of your mind anymore.”

Marinaccio, who made the Yankees Opening Day roster in April before making his big league debut on April 9, pitched to a 2.33 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 19.1 innings prior to feeling discomfort in his shoulder after pitching a perfect inning in a win over the Cleveland Guardians.

The rookie right-hander rested for five days, before lightly throwing out to 90 feet.

“I was a little tentative, I thought it was pretty quick, but I trusted the staff here,” Marinaccio explained. “That was the first hump, mentally getting over it. I was like ‘I feel good already, how fast can I get back.’”

Marinaccio said that a bit of time off has proved beneficial for the development of his fastball, which had lost a bit of life over his last few big league outings.

Adding, “I think that had a little bit to do with the shoulder fatigue. So seeing the fastball play (tonight) the way it was playing in the beginning of the year is a good sign for me, and I feel like I’m ready to get back.”

Marinaccio said he felt 100% and is just taking it day-by-day, but remains eager to return to the red-hot Yankees in the Bronx.

“Finding any way to help that team is a win in my books,” he added. “It's an exciting team to play for this year. Everybody’s seen it. It’s kind of that feeling in the clubhouse every night that we’re going to go out there and win the game, so it's fun to be in that environment.”

The native of Toms River, NJ, pitching about an hour from his hometown on Friday in Bridgewater, couldn't help but feel at home at TD Bank Ballpark, where he spent a majority of his 2021 season pitching in a Patriots uniform.

“It’s cool, it’s comfortable,” Marinaccio said. “A couple of guys were joking around with me today, just (how) a year ago I was pitching here as well, and I was with some of them just a year ago. It's quick how things change that fast and it's definitely surreal.”

“My time in Somerset was great, it gave me the opportunity to develop and mature as a pitcher,” Marinaccio concluded.
