Turning Point
The Senators (35-49) took an immediate 3-0 lead in the first inning against Akron's Matt Esparza (5-1). Darian Sandford stroked a lead-off single, Corbin Joseph walked, and Marmolejos belted an opposite-field, three-run homer to left. It was his eighth of the year, and put the Sens ahead to stay.
Winging It
Hill (4-1) worked seven innings and limited the Ducks to just two runs on three hits. He walked none and struck out two. He allowed a pair of runs in the fourth when Akron pulled to within 3-2, but rebounded to retired the final 11 batters he faced. Esparza suffered his first Double-A loss. He worked 4.1 innings and was charged with six earned runs. After the Ducks pulled to within 3-2, Esparza gave up a two-run double to Osvaldo Abreu in the fourth to give the Sens a 5-2 lead.
Duck Tales
Eric Haase clubbed an RBI triple in the fourth, his team-high 5th of the year. Joe Sever followed with an RBI single, one of his two hits on the night. Bobby Bradley was 0-4, snapping his snapping a five-game hit streak.
