Omaha got the scoring started in the top of the third, when
Sanders spun 5.2 innings of one-run ball, tying his season high with nine strikeouts in his Triple-A debut. On the other side, Kowar tossed six scoreless frames, allowing just three hits and one walk compared to six strikeouts.
Cancel delivered for Omaha again in the top of the eighth, knocking his second RBI double of the game to pad the Storm Chasers’ lead to 2-0.
The 2-0 win marked Omaha’s first of the series, ending Iowa’s five game winning streak.
