PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of May 14th through May 20th.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies infielder Jeff McNeil has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 14th-May 20th. The 26-year old hit .389 (14-for-36) with one double, five home runs, 13 RBIs, seven runs scored, and a .833 slugging percentage in eight games last week. McNeil, who is a native of Santa Barbara, California, had multiple hits in five of the games he played in last week and homered in four straight games from May 15th-May 18th. That included going 4-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs in Binghamton's 11-1 win at New Hampshire on Thursday night. The 6'1", 195 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in home runs (5) and total bases (30) last week and tied for the lead in RBIs (13) and extra-base hits (6). He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in hits (14-tied 2nd), slugging percentage (.833-4th), runs scored (7-tied 6th), and OPS (1.222-9th). For the season McNeil is hitting .328 with 12 home runs, which is tied for the league lead, while driving in 31 runs in 35 games. He also leads the league in slugging percentage (.715) and extra-base hits (26) and is ranked second in runs scored (37). Jeff was selected by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 2013 draft out of Long Beach State University.

Mitch Keller, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Altoona Curve, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 14th-May 20th. The 6'3", 195 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Curve last week and had a record of 2-0 with 14 strikeouts and a 1.98 ERA. Keller, who is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, made his first start of the week on Tuesday against the visiting Richmond Flying Squirrels and threw seven strong innings in Altoona's 5-1 victory. He gave up one run on four hits while striking out seven batters and walking two over seven innings to earn the win. Mitch made his second appearance of the week on Sunday against the visiting Portland Sea Dogs and earned another victory in Altoona's 12-3 win. He gave up two runs on five hits while striking out seven batters and walking two over 6.2 innings of work. The 22-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in wins (2) and innings pitched (13.2) and also ranked among the weekly leaders in strikeouts (14-2nd) and WHIP (0.95-8th). Mitch, who is rated by MLB.com as the top prospect in the Pittsburgh organization and is ranked as the 15th best prospect in all of Minor League Baseball, was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2014 draft out of Xavier High School in Iowa.
