KINGSPORT, TN - The Greeneville Reds (1-2) dropped the series finale against the Kingsport Mets (2-1) at Hunter Wright Stadium 13-6 in the first road game of the season. LHP Andy Fisher struck out five in 3.1 innings of relief in his professional debut.
Jaylen Palmer's solo home run to left center field off RHP Juan Abril (L, 0-1) in the bottom of the first gave Kingsport an early lead. Raul Juarez singled with one out in the second, moved to third on Carlos Reina's double, and scored the tying run on Allan Cerda's sacrifice fly.
Kingsport sent eight to the plate and scored four times in the second. LA Woodard walked with two outs and runners on second and third, but the ball got away from Reina allowing Cristoper Pujols to score. Jhoander Saez followed with an RBI- single. Sebastian Espino's two-run triple drove in both Woodard and Saez to give the Mets a 5-1 lead.
Ivan Johnson doubled off LHP Cesar Loaiza with two outs in the third, and scored on Danny Lantigua's RBI-single. King- sport got the run back in the fourth after Saez grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Gregory Guerrero from third.
Danielito Remy doubled with one out in the fifth, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Johnson's RBI ground out. The Mets answered in the bottom half with a two-out RBI-single from Pujols.
After Cerda's RBI-single in the top of the sixth, Kingsport sent eight to the plate and scored five in the bottom half. Guerrero led off the inning with a solo home run to right field off LHP Jose Zorilla. Palmer's sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, scoring Woodard, ran the Mets lead to 9-4. Andres Regnault followed with a three run home run to left field.
The Reds added two in the eighth. Pinch-hitter Mike Spooner was hit by a pitch and came around to score on a wild pitch, and A.J. Bumpass drew a walk with the bases loaded. Regnault's RBI-single in the bottom half rounded out the scoring.
LHP Hector Rodriguez (W, 1-0) earned the win in relief. He struck out two and walked one over 1.1 scoreless innings. Abril suffered the loss, he allowed five runs on four hits in 1.2 innings. He also walked one and struck out two.
Greeneville begins a three game series in Bristol Friday night against the Pirates. Cincinnati Reds sixth round pick, RHP Graham Ashcraft will make his professional debut. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM ET.
