AMARILLO (JULY 31, 2026) — The San Antonio Missions lost their fourth game of the series to the Amarillo Sod Poodles 8-5 on Friday night at Hodgetown.

Pitching was the story for much of the game. Andrew Thurman was dominant until the very end for San Antonio. The right-hander had a no-hitter until there were two outs in the fifth, when he gave up a broken-bat single to Druw Jones. He was charged with three runs in the sixth inning, but allowed just three hits overall.

Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Amarillo struck for five runs. The inning featured five consecutive hits, including four singles and a double. Angel Ortiz provided an RBI double, before successive RBI singles from Cristofer Torin, Alberto Barriga and Ben McLaughlin. Jones brought in Barriga with an RBI single to make it 5-0 Sod Poodles.

The Missions did strike right back in the seventh, cutting the deficit to 5-4. They loaded the bases with two singles and a hit by pitch. Kai Roberts drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run. Brendan Durfee reached on an error, allowing Murphy to score. A Ryan Jackson RBI groundout and wild pitch brought in two more runs.

However, San Antonio was unable to draw any closer. Amarillo added late, scoring one in the seventh and two more in the eighth. A Jean Walters RBI single made it 6-4.

In the eighth, a Jones RBI single scored Jansel Luis. The Sod Poodles made it 8-4 on a balk.

San Antonio scratched one run across in the ninth, but couldn’t draw closer. Wyatt Hoffman singled and later scored on a Roberts RBI groundout. Blake Cederlind finished the game for the Sod Poodles in the ninth for an 8-5 victory.
