LITTLE ROCK--The Travelers scored twice in the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie en route to an opening night win over the Missions at Dickey Stephens Park on Thursday night.
A wild pitch and rbi-single off reliever Brad Wieck plated a pair of runs and gave Arkansas its first lead of the night in a game that featured 22 combined strikeouts, 11 by each club.
Catcher Austin Allen led off the second frame with a homer to right to give the Missions an early lead, but San Antonio managed only five baserunners on the night. Besides Allen's homerun, no other Mission reached second base.
Starter Cal Quantrill struggled to command his fastball, exiting after throwing 91 pitches over just 3.2 innings. Quantrill issued five walks while fanning four.
NOTES: The game was San Antonio's 113th and final opening day contest in the Texas League. The Missions will move up to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League next season...Bad weather is forecast throughout the day, jeopardizing the second game of the series tonight
