ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- Lucas Erceg tied a career high with four hits and set a career high with three doubles to help fuel the Missions 14-7 series-opening win at Isotopes Park on Wednesday night.
San Antonio finished with 19 hits, 10 of which went for extra bases. They matched a team high with seven doubles while clubbing three homeruns, including the first career homer by pitcher Burch Smith. Smith started the scoring with a long three-run blast to left-center field in the second inning.
Every Missions starter hit safely while six different hitters collected multiple hits. For Erceg, it marked the first time in his career that he had three extra base hits of any variety in a single game.
Wednesday's game was the fourth straight time that San Antonio scored at least 10 runs on the road, dating to their late-July series in Omaha. They've tallied 60 runs in the last six games away from Wolff Stadium.
Luke Barker (1-1) was credited with the win in relief of Smith, who was pulled after 4 1/3 innings and 78 pitches.
David Freitas extended his latest on-base streak to 18 games, which is four shy of his season high streak.
The Missions (72-43) entered play with the fourth most wins in minor league baseball. They improved to 28-24 on the road.
