Montes Recalled, Krehbiel Acquired by Royals

The Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday announced a series of transactions affecting the Durham Bulls' roster. Infielder Coco Montes has been recalled to Tampa Bay from Durham, after newly-acquired outfielder Stuart Fairchild was placed on the Injured List with a strained oblique.

In 68 games with the Bulls this year, Montes has posted a .221 average (56-253), adding 27 runs, 13 doubles, six homers and 26 RBI. He has also appeared in five contests with Tampa Bay this season, batting .200 (2-10) with 1 RBI.
In addition, right-hander Joey Krehbiel has been acquired by the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations. Krehbiel compiled a 4-1 record and 6.11 ERA (35.1 IP) in his 25 appearances with the Bulls, adding ten walks and 34 strikeouts.
