Jackson, Tenn. - The wooded hillside beyond the right field wall at The Ballpark at Jackson was Sunday's most popular player. Three home runs-two for the Montgomery Biscuits (12-18), and one for the Jackson Generals (19-10)-found their way to the hill, but Montgomery's jacks were king, as the Biscuits staved off Jackson for a 6-4 victory. The Generals led 1-0 early, but Shelley Duncan's side could not hang on, dropping the series in the process.

Generals right-hander Jon Duplantier (2-1, 3.14 ERA) suffered his first Double-A defeat, hampered by a difficult fourth inning. After retiring nine of the first eleven hitters he faced, Duplantier allowed a lead-off solo home run in the fourth to Montgomery's Nick Solak, and a two-out, two-run single from Thomas Milone stretched the margin to 3-1 Biscuits. Duplantier gave way to Gabe Speier in the fifth, who ceded a pair of run-scoring hits that made the Montgomery margin 5-1. The Generals could never quite get even again, as Brandon Lowe would homer in the seventh off Justin Donatella for the game's final run. Lowe finished the series with eleven RBI over five games against Jackson.
Offensively, the Generals pushed across a run in the third, as Juniel Querecuto scampered home from third base on an error by Montgomery pitcher Matt Krook. Jackson's only other scoring came in the fifth, when Rudy Flores banged his sixth home run of the year over the right field fence, a three-run shot that drew the Generals within reach at 5-4. The home side ended the game 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position, stranding eight. Only Querecuto had a multi-hit contest, as the league-leading Generals dropped their second straight series finale.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
TOP 4: With the bases loaded full of Biscuits and no outs, Duplantier records consecutive flyouts from Mac James and Jermaine Palacios, coming close to pulling off a Houdini-like escape of the jam. However, Duplantier falls behind Thomas Milone 2-0, and Milone hits his third offering through to center field, scoring two runs. The scoring marks the highest earned run total allowed by Duplantier in three starts this year, putting a slight damper on what would ultimately be a 6-strikeout effort.
SCORE: MTG 3, JXN 1
BOTTOM 4: Galli Cribbs Jr. steps to the plate with one out and the Generals trailing, 3-1. Jason Morozowski, aboard at first after a walk, reaches second base during the at-bat on a wild pitch by Matt Krook, but he goes no further. Despite both Cribbs and Josh Prince getting ahead in the count against Krook, each man strikes out, leaving Morozowski in scoring position.
