Ryan Mountcastle homered twice to help power Norfolk to a 9-7 win over the Rochester Red Wings Thursday afternoon at Frontier Field.

Mountcastle put the Tides on the board with a three-run homer in the first, and Mason Williams followed with a solo shot of his own to give the Tides an early 4-0 lead. Zach Vincej later added a solo home run as Norfolk built a 6-1 advantage.
Rochester rallied to knot the score at 7-7, but the Tides again went back-to-back to reclaim the lead. DJ Stewart gave the Tides the lead in the ninth with a solo homer, and Mountcastle followed with his second blast of the day to give the Tides a 9-7 lead they would not relinquish.
Mountcastle has now hit safely in nine straight games, and his 19 home runs have set a new career-best. Williams extended his hitting streak to 13 consecutive games, and he's now hit safely in 23 of his last 24 contests.
Sean Gilmartin (2-1) earned his second straight win with a scoreless inning of relief, while Josh Lucas earned the save by retiring the final two batters of the contest.
The Tides continue their road trip on Friday with the first of three games against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Keegan Akin is scheduled to start the opener, with first pitch slated for 7:05 on ESPN Radio 94.1.
