Mud Hens announce 2025 season opening roster

Toledo, OH – The Detroit Tigers and Toledo Mud Hens announced the season opening roster for the 2025 season set to start Friday, March 28, 2025, at Fifth Third Field.

Sixteen pitchers are set to start the season: Jordan Balazovic, Andrew Chafin, Dietrich Enns, Jason Foley, Matt Gage, Wilkel Hernandez, Bailey Horn, Tanner Kohlhepp, Chase Lee, Lael Lockhart, Matt Manning, Ryan Miller, Keider Montero, Tyler Owens, P.J. Poulin, and Brendan White. Kohlhepp will begin the season on the Injured List.

Fifteen position players start the year in Toledo, beginning with two catchers on the Opening Day roster: Eliezer Alfonzo and Tomas Nido. Six infielders are listed as Jack Dunn, Jace Jung, Hao-Yu Lee, Bligh Madris, Andrew Navigato, and Riley Unroe will cover the dirt. Five outfielders are named with Justice Bigbie, Ben Gamel, David Hensley, Jahmai Jones, and Justyn-Henry Malloy roaming the grass.

The roster contains 15 players who have adorned the Mud Hens uniform previously (eight pitchers, seven fielders), and 13 who will be new to the confines of Fifth Third Field (seven pitchers, six fielders).

Toledo will host seven members of the Tigers’ 40-man roster: Foley, Jung, Lee, Malloy, Manning, Montero, and Owens.

The Mud Hens roster will open with four of the top 30 Tigers prospects (MLB.com), being Jung (7), Lee (8), Bigbie (28), and Owens (29).
