PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of May 21st through May 27th.

Bowie Baysox outfielder Cedric Mullins has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 21st-May 27th. The 23-year old hit .560 (14-for-25) with one double, one triple, nine runs scored, five RBIs, three walks, three stolen bases, and a .680 slugging percentage in six games last week. Mullins, who is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, had at least one hit in all six games he played in last week and had multiple hits in four of those games, including going 4-for-5 with a triple, a double, three runs scored, and one RBI in Bowie's 7-0 win at Binghamton on Sunday. The 5'8", 175 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in batting average (.560), hits (14), and on-base percentage (.607) last week and tied for the lead in stolen bases (3). He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in runs scored (9-2nd), triples (1-tied 2nd), OPS (1.287-3rd), and total bases (17-tied 6th). In 47 games for the Baysox this season Mullins is hitting .313 with six homers, 35 runs scored, 28 RBIs, and eight stolen bases. Cedric, who is rated by MLB.com as the sixth best prospect in the Baltimore organization, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 13th round of the 2015 draft out of Campbell University.

Kyle McGowin, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Harrisburg Senators, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 21st-May 27th. The 6'3", 195 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Senators last week and had a record of 2-0 with 20 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA. McGowin, who is a native of Southampton, New York, made his first start of the week on Tuesday against the visiting Erie SeaWolves and fired seven shutout innings in Harrisburg's 2-0 victory. He gave up just two hits while striking out 10 batters and walking one to earn the win. Kyle made his second appearance of the week on Sunday against the visiting Altoona Curve and earned another victory in Harrisburg's 7-2 win. He gave up two runs on six hits while striking out 10 batters and walking one over six innings. The 26-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts (20) and tied for the league lead in wins (2) last week. He also ranked among the weekly leaders in innings pitched (13.0-tied 3rd), ERA (1.38-10th), WHIP (0.77-10th), and batting average against (.174-10th). Kyle was acquired by the Washington Nationals in a trade from the Los Angeles Angels on December 10, 2016. He was originally selected by the Angels in the fifth round of the 2013 draft out of Savannah State.
