MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (June 27, 2017) - Myrtle Beach snapped their three-game losing skid behind a terrific outing from Adbert Alzolay , who allowed just two earned runs over 5.2 innings Tuesday in the Pelicans' 4-2 win over the Potomac Nationals from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
Alzolay (7-1) was terrific for Myrtle Beach (45-30, 2-3), as he tossed 5.2 innings and allowed just two runs while striking out seven Potomac (35-41, 2-4) batters. Jordan Minch , Kyle Miller and James Norwood teamed up to toss 3.1 innings of scoreless relief for the Pelicans. Norwood entered the game in the ninth and struck out a pair of batters to record his fifth save of the season.

Myrtle Beach wasted no time as they struck first in the opening frame. Trent Giambrone kicked off the inning with a base hit against P-Nats starter Grant Borne (3-3) before advancing to third on a single from P.J. Higgins . Higgins advanced to second on a wild pitch before Eloy Jiménez grounded out, scoring Giambrone from third to give Myrtle Beach the 1-0 advantage. With two outs in the frame, Tyler Alamo placed an RBI single to right field, scoring Higgins to extend the Birds' lead to 2-0.
Victor Robles recorded the first hit off of Alzolay, as he cracked a leadoff double to right field in the fourth. Robles would eventually score on an RBI ground out from Jack Sundberg to give Potomac their first run of the game.
Alamo recorded his second hit of the contest with a leadoff double to begin the fourth inning for Myrtle Beach. He advanced to third on a ground out before scoring on a sacrifice fly from Matt Rose to make the score 3-1 still in favor of the Birds.
Giambrone singled to begin the fifth, and Higgins reached on an error to put two Pelicans on with nobody out in the inning. Both runners advanced into scoring position on a fly out from Jimenez before Giambrone scored on an RBI groundout from Jesse Hodges.
With the score 4-1, Potomac would plate one in the sixth. Back-to-back singles from Edwin Lora and Bryan Mejia would start the frame for the P-Nats. With one out in the frame, Sundberg was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ian Sagdal drove in the only run of the frame with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Lora to make the score 4-2.
Zack Short went 3-for-3 in his first start for Myrtle Beach. The right-handed batter paced the Pelicans offense in their victory, with Giambrone, Higgins and Alamo also recording multi-hit games.
