WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (August 7, 2018) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were handed their season-worst seventh consecutive loss on Tuesday night by the Winston-Salem Dash in a 3-2 defeat from BB&T Ballpark.
The Dash's (68-45, 27-16) Luis González struck first against Pelicans (50-65, 16-29) starter Tyson Miller (8-8) in the third inning with a two-run home run. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Yermin Mercedes smacked an RBI single, scoring Blake Rutherford to make it 3-0.
The Birds pulled within one in the eighth inning. Wladimir Galindo began the frame with a single before Roberto Caro doubled to put two in scoring position. After Tyler Alamo knocked in Galindo with a sacrifice fly, Caro scored on an error to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Kyle Kubat (6-1) secured the win for the Dash with a career-best seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Hunter Schryver earned his first save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. 
In the loss, Jared Young went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. 
The Pelicans conclude the three-game series with the Dash at 7 p.m. on Wednesday from BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem. The Birds send RHP Erick Leal (1-1, 1.10 ERA) to the mound against Winston-Salem RHP Blake Battenfield (4-2, 4.27 ERA).
