FREDERICK, Md. (May 20, 2018) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were broomed 6-1 and 10-1 by the Frederick Keys in Sunday's doubleheader at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
In game one, Jhonny Pereda smashed a solo home run off Frederick (18-24) starter Michael Baumann (1-0), but that was Myrtle Beach's (17-26) only offense. Baumann pitched a seven-inning complete game, yielding one run on four hits. He struck out two and walked one.

With the Pelicans ahead 1-0 in the third, Stuart Levy cracked a two-run homer off Myrtle Beach starter Keegan Thompson (1-3) to put the Keys in front. Later in the frame, Wilson Garcia crushed a three-run bomb to make it 5-1. Garcia launched his second dinger of the game with a solo shot in the fifth to push the tally to 6-1.
In the finale, Myrtle Beach starter Jose Paulino (0-6) gave up a single to Garcia and a double to Jomar Reyes to begin the second. Collin Woody followed with a two-run double before Yohjan Quevedo lasered a two-run homer to left. An error and Preston Palmeiro sacrifice fly plated two more Frederick runs in the frame to widen the gap to 6-0.
Wladimir Galindo lined a homer to dead center off Keys starter Lucas Humpal (1-5) to get the Birds on the board in the fourth. However, in the bottom of the frame, Palmeiro socked an opposite field grand slam to make it 10-1 in favor of the Keys.
