MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (July 18, 2018) - The Potomac Nationals ended the Myrtle Beach Pelicans' six-game winning streak on Wednesday night, handing the Pelicans a 5-1 loss in front of 4,051 fans from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. 
The Nationals (47-46, 10-16) scored first, touching up Pelicans (46-50, 12-14) starter Erich Uelmen (3-2) for two runs in the first inning. Bryan Mejia scored on a wild pitch before Luis García was plated by Ian Sagdal on an RBI ground out. 

Garcia grounded into a double play in the fourth to add on, scoring Jakson Reetz, to make it 3-0. The Birds found the scoreboard with an Aramis Ademan RBI single in the fifth, driving in Jose Gutierrez
In the sixth, Jack Sundberg, who went 3-for-4 from the nine-spot in the order, crushed his third home run on the season. The solo shot made it 4-1. 
A Garcia RBI single in the eighth increased the advange to 5-1. 
A.J. Bogucki (1-1) took home the win, throwing two scoreless innings in relief, while Steven Fuentes earned his second save on the year with 2.1 shutout innings of his own. 
The Pelicans continue their three-game series with the Nationals at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. RHP Rollie Lacy (1-0, 1.69 ERA) starts for Myrtle Beach against Potomac RHP Joan Baez (4-8, 4.87 ERA). Thursday's contest is a Thirsty Thursday presented by Celebrations Nitelife, Axelrod & Associates and WBTW featuring $1 12 oz. Bud & Bud Light drafts, $2 16 oz. cans and half-price Duplin Wine from 6-8 p.m. In addition, Bojangles presents DJ Hurricane of the Beastie Boys as part of the Pelicans Postgame Concert Series. Postgame fireworks presented by East Coast Pyrotechnics will follow the game.
