Naturals outlast Cardinals in 11 innings, 5-4

Springdale, AR - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (3-0) walked off with a hard-fought 5-4 win in 11 innings against the Springfield Cardinals (0-3) before 4,453 fans at Arvest Ballpark on Saturday evening.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
-With the Cardinals trailing, 4-2, with two outs in the top of the ninth, CF Dylan Carlson launched a two-run home run to right field to tie the game, 4-4, with his first-career Double-A round-tripper.

-One inning after tying the game in the ninth, Carlson kept the game alive in the 10th catching a liner in shallow left-center field and throwing the would-be game-winning run out at the plate, forcing an 11th inning with the double play.

-The Naturals walked off on an RBI single from SS Taylor Featherston in the bottom of the 11th inning, bringing home C Xavier Fernández from third base.

NOTABLES:
-In addition to his game-tying home run and outfield assist, Carlson added an RBI double and a single, going 3x5 with three RBIs and just missing the cycle by a triple.

-LF Conner Capel went 2x5 with an RBI double, starting the season 4x11 with two doubles and two RBIs through the first three games.

-The Cardinals bullpen dealt six straight scoreless innings from the fifth through the 10th with RHP Roel Ramirez striking out five in 2.0 scoreless innings, RHP Will Latcham tossing a shutout seventh and RHP Seth Elledge dealing 3.0 scoreless and hitless frames from the eighth through the 10th.
