(Eastlake, OH) - Bo Naylor drove home six runs, including a grand slam, to help the Lake County Captains (31-32, 71-61) demolish the Dayton Dragons (27-36, 55-78) on Monday night at Classic Park. The Captains hit three homers in a 13-2 win.

Jose Fermin ignited the offense in the first. Clark Scolamiero led off with a single and Fermin went deep two batters later with a two-run shot into the left field bleachers. Jesse Berardi scored on a wild pitch later in the inning and Jonathan Engelmann delivered an RBI single to give Lake County a 4-0 lead in the opening frame.
Naylor doubled the Captains' advantage in the second. Daniel Schneemann led off with an infield single and Dayton starter Jordan Johnson walked Scolamiero before being pulled in favor of lefty Connor Curlis. Fermin singled off Curlis with one out to load the bases and Naylor connected with an opposite-field grand slam to left-centerfield that expanded the Captains' lead to 8-0. Quentin Holmes then lifted a solo homer into the left field bleachers in the third to make it 9-0.
Captains starter Alex Royalty was masterful on the hill. The right-hander blanked Dayton across the first six innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. The Dragons scratched across their only two runs in Royalty's final inning.
Juan Martinez led off the Dayton seventh with a single and Matt Lloyd followed with a double that plated Martinez. Royalty walked Cameron Warren, but turned around and struck out Morgan Loftstrom for his sixth punch-out of the night. Royalty was pulled after hitting Miguel Hernandez with a pitch and, with Tim Herrin on the mound, Miles Gordon lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Lloyd and cut the Captains' lead to 9-2.
Lake County exploded for four more runs in the eighth. Schneemann again reached on an infield single, Dragons reliever Jerry D'Andrea walked Scolamiero and George Valera was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fermin bounced a ball to second and the Dragons forced out Valera at second base, but Schneemann scored on the RBI fielder's choice. Naylor came up next and cracked a fly ball to deep centerfield. The ball landed over Michael Siani's head and both Scolamiero and Fermin scored, as Naylor raced to third with his league-leading 10th triple. Raynel Delgado tacked on an RBI single later in the inning to push the Captains' lead to 13-2.
Royalty (6-8) took home the win. The right-hander pitched 6.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He struck out six, walked one and hit two batters.
Johnson (0-1) suffered the loss. He lasted one inning and allowed six runs on six hits. Johnson walked one and did not record a strikeout.
The Captains have won two in a row after snapping a four-game losing streak. They will go for a series win tomorrow in the final game of a four-game set. First pitch between the Captains and Dragons is scheduled for noon on Tuesday at Classic Park.
