Nearly perfect Doyle sets tone in rout of Travelers

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Liam Doyle set down the first 14 batters he faced in his latest dominant start, and the Cardinals bats provided plenty of offense in a 12-2 win over the Arkansas Travelers on Wednesday at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Doyle fanned nine, including seven in a row at one point, over five innings to pick up his fourth win. He allowed one run over five innings.

Springfield took an early lead with a four-run second inning highlighted by Tai Peete's two-run single.

Ryan Campos added to the lead with a solo home run in the third.

A six-run top of the ninth inning put the game away.

NOTES:
• Doyle has allowed just 8 ER in his last 8 starts and has a 1.82 ERA over that stretch.
• Rainiel Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. He's hit safely in 19 of the last 20 games.
• Deniel Ortiz went 1-for-6 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
• Every Cardinal in the lineup recorded at least one hit including three-hit performances from Peete and Campos.
• Cardinals pitching struck out a season-high 18 batters.
