The Pawtucket Red Sox are pleased to announce that New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola will make a special appearance at McCoy Stadium on Thursday, June 8 when the PawSox host the Buffalo Bisons at 7:05 pm at McCoy. Amendola has played for the Patriots for the past four seasons and was a key member of both the 2014 & 2016 Super Bowl Champion clubs.
Danny will throw out the ceremonial first-pitch prior to Pawtucket's game on June 8, and then sign free autographs in the CCRI/PawSox Fan Center on the main concourse at McCoy from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. Amendola's appearance is presented by MetLife and WEEI-FM.
Signed by the Patriots prior to the 2013 season, the 31-year-old Texas native has been a key member of Tom Brady's wide receiving corps over the past four seasons. During the 2014 playoffs, Danny caught 3 touchdown passes including a clutch 4th quarter TD in Super Bowl XLIX that helped spark New England's 28-24 victory over Seattle. On September 27, 2015, Amendola caught Brady's 400th career touchdown pass in a win vs. Jacksonville as Brady became just the 4th QB in history to reach that mark. And in Super Bowl LI this past February vs. Atlanta, Amendola had 8 catches for 78 yards including a critical 2-point conversion catch with less than a minute remaining to tie the game at 28-28 helping pave the way for New England's incredible 34-28 overtime victory.
In addition to Danny's appearance, Jerry Thornton, author of Darkness to Dynasty: The First 40 Years of the New England Patriots, will be on hand on June 8 to sign copies of his book that will be available for purchase.
The PawSox and MetLife have hosted several Patriots players at McCoy over the past several years including Nate Ebner, Ryan Allen, Jabaal Sheard, Brandon King, Jonas Gray, Rufus Johnson, and James Develin just to name a few.
