Fresno, California (Sunday, June 2) - The Fresno Grizzlies (28-29) walked off on the Salt Lake Bees (26-30) 9-8 Sunday afternoon from Chukchansi Park. Trailing 8-4 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Fresno mounted five runs in the next two frames to complete their second-largest comeback of the season (May 13th versus Albuquerque, 6-0). Jake Noll finished the contest with a rocket single to center, notching Carter Kieboom. He helped Raudy Read offensively, who homered twice and drove in five runs (both season-highs for him). Read had a two and three-run shot in the sixth and eighth inning, giving him eight clouts on the year.
Alec Keller, Collin Cowgill and Taylor Gushue added two hits apiece for Fresno in the win. Keller's RBI single in the eighth tied the contest at eight. He and Cowgill both recorded a run. Michael Blazek (1-0) earned his first victory as a Grizzly, hurling two innings of relief. Logan Ondrusek did not factor in the decision after four-plus frames of two-run ball, striking out six.
Matt Thaiss and Kaleb Cowart highlighted the Bees offense. Both players hammered dingers in the defeat. Thaiss' longball came in the eighth while Cowart's arose in the seventh. Jose Rojas belted three hits, two for doubles and mustered a pair of RBI. Luke Bard (0-2) suffered the loss. Both clubs will enjoy an off-day on Monday before returning to action Tuesday night.
