TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens surrendered the lead late, and couldn't get it back, ending in a 7-6 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs.

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens surrendered the lead late, and couldn't get it back, ending in a 7-6 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs.

The Mud Hens offense kept the line moving throughout the game, resulting in an early lead. Jarrod Saltalamacchia got Toledo on the board by driving Jason Krizan home in the second inning.
One inning later, Toledo struck again. Chad Huffman doubled home Jacob Robson, then scored courtesy of a fielders choice by Dawel Lugo. Another run would come across in the inning after Krizan singled home Lugo.
Toledo starter Jacob Turner allowed two runs across four innings of work against the Chiefs. Both runs scored in the fourth on a double from Irving Falu that scored José Marmolejos and Pedro Severino.
An inning later, Paul Voelker came in to pitch and allowed another pair of runs to score. Chris Dominguez scored on an error charged to Krizan. Voelker then walked home Bengie González.
The Toledo lead was surrendered in the sixth under the watch of Hunter Cervenka when Dominguez knocked a double, scoring Falu.
Brady Dragmire toed the rubber for Syracuse. He ran into trouble with the lead in the sixth inning with Mud Hens first and third. Saltalamacchia came through to drive in Lugo and tie the game up.
The game remained tied until eighth inning when Christin Stewart led the Mud Hens off with a single. A batter later, Lugo drove him in.
Johnny Barbato came in to close things out in ninth with a one run lead. The bases became loaded with one out, Tuffy Gosewisch hit an infield fly. Adrían Sanchez strolled to the plate with two down and the bases juiced and drove in a pair.
Huffman drew a two out walk, bringing Stewart to the plate as the winning run in the ninth. Following a Stewart's walk, Warwick Saupold pinch ran for Huffman. However, Lugo flew out to right to end the game.
What's Next:
The Mud Hens remain at Fifth Third Field on Wednesday for series finale against Syracuse. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Hens Notes:
• With his long ball on Monday, Chad Huffman became the fourth Mud Hens batter to hit 10 or more home runs this season, joining Christin Stewart (19), Mike Gerber (13) and Mikie Mahtook (11).
• Tonight marks Johnny Barbato's first blown save of the season after converting nine straight. It is the Mud Hens tenth blown save in 49 total opportunities.
• The Detroit Tigers on Monday placed OF JaCoby Jones on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain. In a corresponding move, OF Mikie Mahtook was recalled to the Tigers from the Mud Hens.
• Prior to Monday's game, RHP Jacob Turner cleared waivers and was outrighted from Detroit to Toledo. Including rehab assignments, 24 different players have played for both clubs.
