The Aces will feature an interesting group of outfielders to start the season. Four of the five players on the roster have Major League experience. Four have prior Pacific Coast League experience before joining the Aces. Three can also play the infield.
Yasmany Tomás is the only returner for the Aces in the outfield to start the season. He was competing for a spot at first base at the Major League level before his reassignment to Reno. He impressed in Cactus League action this year. The righty hit .448 with seven RBIs and five doubles while getting on-base at a .467 mark. He is not on the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster making it tough for a promotion to Arizona at the moment.
He's expected to bring power to the club. Last season in Triple-A he hit .262 in 106 games with 14 home runs, 65 RBIs, 42 runs scored, and 22 doubles. His best year came in 2016 at the big-league level where in 140 games with the D-backs he hit .272 with 31 home runs, 83 RBIs, 72 runs scored while slugging .508.
He brings versatility and run scoring ability to manager Chris Cron's lineup. Locastro can play all three outfield positions and has appeared at every position in the infield during his professional baseball career except pitcher and catcher.
Offensively, he gets on base. During his minor league career, he owns a .292 average with a .376 on-base percentage. He has averaged just about 24 walks a season along with an average of 27 stolen bases a year. Those are valuable numbers for any team. His uncanny ability to make things happens may be best highlighted by his talent of putting his body on the line.
Locastro has been hit by a pitch 154 times across his career. To put that in perspective, MLB Hall of Famer, Craig Biggio, is the live-ball era leader for hit by pitches at 285. He played 20 seasons compared to Locastro's six.
Outfielder
Besides LHP
The veteran gained postseason experience with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2013-2015. Snider is a big "foodie", nicknamed LunchBox.
Lastly,
He hits from both sides of the plate and is allegedly responsible for a 505-foot home run back in 2017 when he was with the Indians. Give it a Google search if you want to see it for yourself.
