(November 3, 2017) - The Hillsboro Hops (@HillsboroHops) announced today that Arizona Diamondbacks Player Development Assistant Orlando Hudson, Diamondbacks pitcher and 2013 Hop Jimmie Sherfy, 2016 infielder Mark Karaviotis and 2017 catcher Tim Susnara will be the guests of honor at the 5th Annual Hillsboro Hops Fund Banquet

Hillsboro, OR. (November 3, 2017) - The Hillsboro Hops (@HillsboroHops) announced today that Arizona Diamondbacks Player Development Assistant Orlando Hudson, Diamondbacks pitcher and 2013 Hop Jimmie Sherfy, 2016 infielder Mark Karaviotis and 2017 catcher Tim Susnara will be the guests of honor at the 5th Annual Hillsboro Hops Fund Banquet presented by Lanphere Construction & Development on Friday, November 17th at Northwest Events & Environments in Hillsboro. The banquet raises money to assist in the growth of youth baseball and softball in Washington County.

Hudson has served as a Player Development Assistant with the Diamondbacks for two seasons. He played 11 seasons in the Majors with the Toronto Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox. He was a two-time National League All-Star (2007, 2009) and a four-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winner (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009).
Sherfy pitched for the Hillsboro Hops in their inaugural 2013 season after being selected in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of the University of Oregon. In 2017 he became the 7th former Hop to make his major league debut when he appeared for the Diamondbacks on August 20, 2017 against the Minnesota Twins. He finished his debut season 2-0 with an earned run average of 0.00 in 10.2 innings across 11 appearances. He was named to the Diamondbacks postseason roster on the strength of his regular season and became the first ever former Hop to appear in the MLB postseason.
Karaviotis debuted for the Hillsboro Hops in the 2016 season after being selected in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB Draft also out of the University of Oregon. As a Hop in 2016, Karaviotis hit .344 in 41 games with 2 home runs and 25 runs batted in. He spent the 2017 season with the Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League and the Visalia Rawhide of the California League. Across those two levels, Karaviotis hit .289 in 85 games with 6 home runs and 36 runs driven in.
Susnara played for the Hops in the 2017 season after being selected in the 8th round of the 2017 MLB Draft also out of the University of Oregon. In his first professional season Susnara notched 9 extra-base hits and a walk-off single to beat Everett on June 29th.
