SALEM, Va. (July 11, 2018) - With the game tied at four in the bottom of the ninth, Michael Osinski stroked a walk-off single to left to propel the Salem Red Sox to a 5-4 victory against the Dash on Wednesday night at Haley Toyota Field.
With
Netzer would ultimately bunt into a fielder's choice, but C.J. Chatham followed with a walk to put runners on first and second with one out. Two batters later, Osinski came through with the game-winning hit to bring home Hill and lift the Red Sox to a win. Harrison Cooney (1-0) earned the victory in relief, tossing two innings and allowing just one hit.
Making his first High-A start, right-hander
Winston-Salem did plate its first run of the contest in the next half inning against Red Sox starter Jake Thompson.
The Red Sox added their final run off Henzman in the third via an RBI single from Chatham, as the Dash righty finished his outing by going three innings and allowing four hits and three runs while walking two and striking out two.
However, the Dash would take their first lead of the night in the fifth inning. After
Gonzalez, who finished 2-for-5 on Wednesday, has now posted nine multi-hit efforts over his first 17 games at the High-A level. Meanwhile, Rivera moved Gonzalez to third on a sacrifice bunt, and Rutherford drove him in on an RBI groundout to put Winston-Salem ahead 4-3.
