Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (33-19) defeated the Akron RubberDucks (30-23) by a final score of 2–1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday night.

Akron struck first when Julian Escobedo singled home Chris Roller in the top of the second.

Somerset took the lead in the bottom of the sixth after Chad Bell and Max Burt scored on back-to-back groundouts by Elijah Dunham and Josh Breaux to give the Patriots a 2-1 advantage. Burt went 2-for-3 with a run scored on the night.

Will Warren (1-1) impressed in his home debut with two strikeouts and an run allowed through six innings for the win. Steven Jennings retired the final three batters of the night for the save (2).

Joey Cantillo (2-3) gave up two runs in 5.1 innings pitched to suffer the loss.

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Thursday, June 9 with a 6:35 pm game against the RubberDucks at TD Bank Ballpark.
