Patriots Turn Up The Power On The Curve

Bridgewater, New Jersey – Shawn Semple’s Double-A return and five home runs powered the Somerset Patriots (41-27) past the Altoona Curve (37-29) 10-0 on Thursday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.

Semple (W, 3-2) set the tone early when he struck out the side in the first inning. He scattered just two hits and struck out nine in six scoreless innings pitched.

Brandon Lockridge (4,5) and Jason Lopez (2,3) each hit two home runs in the game.

Lockridge went deep to start the scoring in the third, and again for three runs in the eighth, to finish 3-for-5 with four RBI.

Lopez hit a two-run homer in the fourth after Oswaldo Cabrera’s solo shot (13) started the scoring in the inning. Lopez struck again with a three-run blast in the fifth inning to finish with five RBI on the night.

Osvaldo Bido (L, 2-4) suffered the loss after he allowed five earned runs on six hits in 4.2 innings pitched.

The Patriots and Curve continue the series on Friday night with a 7:05 pm game at TD Bank Ballpark.
