The Final PawSox Sunday Afternoon in the Park for 2018 - The Pawtucket Red Sox - winners of 7 of their last 10 games - play their final Sunday afternoon home game of the 2018 season when they host the IL South-leading Durham Bulls (AAA-Tampa Bay) today at 1:35 pm at McCoy Stadium (Live on myRITV). This afternoon's series and homestand finale is not the last Sunday game at McCoy this season as the PawSox will host the Yankees of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, September 2 (Labor Day eve) but that will be a night game beginning at 6:15 pm (with fireworks to follow). Pawtucket does have one other Sunday game remaining and that will be one week from today in Buffalo (August 26) at 1:05 pm.
This Series - Durham got on the board in this 4-game set with a 3-0 blanking of the PawSox last night. The PawSox had used a pair of fine performances from lefty Josh D. Smith and righty Josh A. Smith (no relation) who were the starting and winning pitchers the lfirst two nights at McCoy as the Sox beat the Bulls, 8-2 and 5-3 on Thursday and Friday respectively. Pawtucket is bidding to win this series outright after dropping 2 of 3 to Norfolk last week during this homestand.
Durham Breaks the Ice at McCoy - Pawtucket and Durham meet for the final time this season today. Until last night's 3-0 Bulls win, Pawtucket had won each of their prior 9 meetings with Durham here at McCoy…the first two of this series after finishing 4-0 last season and going 3-0 in 2016. The last Durham win at McCoy prior to last night came more than three years ago in the final meeting of the 2015 season on May 3 by an 8-2 score.
