MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 13, 2017) - Tyler Pearson's  two-run home run and Kyle Miller's pitching Sunday helped lead the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a series win over the Carolina Mudcats with a 4-2 victory at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
With Carolina (57-61, 21-29) leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Myrtle Beach (61-58, 18-31) rallied against Mudcats starter Frank Lopez (3-5). Tyler Alamo began off the frame with a base hit before Pearson's two-run shot gave the Pelicans a 2-1 advantage. Following Pearson, Adonis Paula walked and then advanced to third on a double from Connor Myers. Roberto Caro hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the third run of the frame. With one out, Zack Short laced a base hit to left field, scoring Myers and giving the Birds a 4-1 lead after two frames.

Miller allowed just two earned runs over five frames, scattering five hits and striking out a pair. Marc Huberman and Tommy Thorpe teamed up to toss three scoreless frames before Scott Effross fired a scoreless ninth inning to notch his sixth save of the season.
In the second, Lucas Erceg doubled to start the inning before scoring on a Cooper Hummel RBI single, giving the Muddies first blood.
With one out in the top of the third, Jose Cuas singled to center field before moving to second on a wild pitch. With two men retired and Cuas on third following a ground out, Corey Ray singled home the runner to cut the Mudcats' deficit in half to 4-2.
With back-to-back wins, Myrtle Beach will search for their third straight win for the first time in the second half of the 2017 season in Monday's 7 p.m. series opener at Winston-Salem. The Birds will send RHP Thomas Hatch  (4-10, 4.20 ERA) to the mound to oppose Dash RHP A.J. Puckett (9-7, 4.01 ERA).
