Last season, the Minnesota native appeared in nine games with the White Sox and went 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA (8.0 IP) before undergoing season-ending surgery on his right hip in June (2016).
Originally selected by the White Sox in the second round of the June 2010 First-Year-Player Draft, Petricka appeared in 10 games with the Knights back in 2013 and posted a 2-0 record with a 1.17 ERA (15.1 IP). He made two rehab appearances with the Knights in 2015 and did not allow a run in two innings of work.
In 2010, he was rated by Baseball America as having the Best Fastball in the White Sox 2010 draft class. He entered the 2011 season as the seventh-best prospect in Chicago's system (as ranked by Baseball America). A year later (2012), the same publication rated him as the fifth-best prospect in the organization.
