FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (June 3, 2019) - Dash pitchers Konnor Pilkington and Jake Elliott were masterful on Monday, combining to strike out 14 Woodpeckers to lead Winston-Salem to a 4-2 victory at Segra Stadium.
Pilkington (1-1), who was a third-round pick by the White Sox last year, earned his first win for Winston-Salem (32-24). The left-hander struck out eight Fayetteville (25-32) hitters and allowed just two runs on two hits across 5.2 innings. Meanwhile, Elliott earned his first save of the season by pitching 3.1 scoreless innings to close out the ballgame. The right-hander allowed just two hits and notched six strikeouts in the effort.

After Fayetteville starter Nivaldo Rodriguez (0-3) retired the first six hitters he faced, the Dash got on the board in the top of the third. To lead off the frame, JJ Muno crushed a solo homer down the right-field line to give Winston-Salem a 1-0 lead. It was Muno's third home run of the season.
The Woodpeckers struck back in the bottom of the third against Pilkington. With one out, Ramiro Rodriguez drew a walk. Bryan De La Cruz then smacked a double into left field to score Rodriguez and tie the ballgame. Following a groundout by Michael Papierski, Jonathan Arauz ripped another double to left to score De La Cruz and make it 2-1.
However, Winston-Salem took back the lead in the top of the fourth. First, Nick Madrigal was hit by a pitch to start off the frame. Following a sacrifice bunt by Steele Walker that moved Madrigal to second, Jameson Fisher worked a walk to put runners at first and second. Zach Remillard then grounded a ball off the glove of Fayetteville second baseman Enmanuel Valdez, allowing Madrigal to score to tie the ballgame.
Then, with Craig Dedelow at the plate, Rodriguez threw a wild pitch that allowed Fisher to score, giving the Dash a 3-2 lead.
Winston-Salem added to its lead in the top of the ninth. To lead off the inning, Fisher crushed a towering home run to right against Fayetteville reliever Enoli Paredes to push the lead to 4-2.
For the second straight night, Fayetteville loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but Elliott forced a flyout off the bat of Ramiro Rodriguez to end the game.
Winston-Salem wraps up the series at Fayetteville on Tuesday night. Left-hander John Parke (2-2, 3.43 ERA) will take the hill for Winston-Salem against Woodpeckers right-hander JP France (1-4, 4.87 ERA). First pitch is set for 7 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast, MiLB.TV and the TuneIn Radio App.
Following the Tuesday night's game and an off day, the Dash return to BB&T Ballpark for a seven-game homestand that runs from June 6-12. The homestand includes four games against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and three games against the Salem Red Sox.
