Pirates' Davis, Blue Jays' Pardinho named August 13-19 Players of the Week

REDINGTON SHORES, Fla. - Bristol Pirates' outfielder Jonah Davis and Bluefield Blue Jays' pitcher Eric Pardinho have been named Appalachian League Players of the Week for August 13-19, as announced by Minor League Baseball Monday.

REDINGTON SHORES, Fla. - Bristol Pirates' outfielder Jonah Davis and Bluefield Blue Jays' pitcher Eric Pardinho have been named Appalachian League Players of the Week for August 13-19, as announced by Minor League Baseball Monday.

This is the second Player of the Week honor for Davis, who was also named Player of the Week on July 2. The 21 year old recorded a hit in each of Bristol's games during the span of August 13-19, batting .375 with nine runs scored, eight RBI, and five home runs. He delviered a two-homer, four-RBI game on August 16 in an 8-5 win at Burlington. Davis, selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 15th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, is currently batting .326 on the season.
Blue Jays' right-hander Pardinho earned his first Pitcher of the Week honor after throwing seven shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Elizabethton Twins on August 16, allowing just one hit, no walks, and striking out six. He earned his fourth win of the season in the contest, tied for the second-best mark in the Appalachian League. The Toronto Blue Jays signed Pardinho, 17, to a minor league contract on July 2, 2017.

The Appalachian League is a Rookie (Advance) league in Minor League Baseball that consists of 10 teams across North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The league was established in 1911, and the modern Appalachian League began play in 1957.
