Corpus Christi's losing skid hits four games as the were foiled by Midland's pitching racking up 17 strikeouts against the bats. Only Anibal Sierra avoided a strikeout on the Hooks lineup card. He and Ronnie Dawson were the only batters with multiple hits but the Hooks couldn't muster any offense until the later stages of the game.
Tyler Ivey made his second consecutive start against the RockHounds and dominated. He retired each of the first ten batters before allowing a run in the fourth. He then recovered with a 1-2-3 fifth and left two runners stranded in the sixth. His seven strikeouts were the most he's had since coming off of the IL and six innings were a season long.
Enoli Paredes was activated ahead of today's game and struck out four batters over three innings of work. Both received no decisions as the offense finally got going in the eighth.
Bryan De La Cruz scored the game's tying run on a Jake Meyers single to center. The game was forced to extras with a 1-1 tie. De La Cruz beat out a potential inning-ending double play ball to bring home the placed runner Chuckie Robinson and give the Hooks their first lead of the game.
The bottom of the tenth started fast against reliever Nick Hernandez. A leadoff double by Gregg Deichmann tied the score two pitches into the frame. Then a grounder moved him over to third as the winning run with one out. Dan Gamache was due next and hit a smashed one-hopper to Sierra drawn in at short. He knocked it down, but ricocheted too far to make a play, and the Hounds ran away with the win.
