July 10, 2017

West Virginia's offensive started hot and never cooled off.

West Virginia's offensive started hot and never cooled off.

After scoring two runs on an RBI single by Carlos Munoz in the first inning the Braves made it a 2-1 game in the second when Justin Ellison scored on a fielder's choice. The Power added three more in the third thanks to RBI singles Victor Fernandez and Munoz and a wild pitch to score a run to take a 5-1 lead. The Braves began to claw back in the sixth inning when Justin Ellison (5) hit a two run home run to cut the lead to 5-3. However, the bullpen collapsed late as West Virginia scored four in the seventh, one and the eighth and one in the ninth inning for the 11-2 final.
James Marvell (4-6) gets the win for West Virginia while Jeremy Walker (3-9) takes the loss for Rome.
Rome will have a day off tomorrow before heading out on a six game road trip starting with the Lakewood Blueclaws on Wednesday.
