RubberDucks Game Recap
Sea Dogs (23-40) 3 RubberDucks (34-32) 1
WP: Konner Wade (1-1) LP: Evan Mitchell (0-2) Save: Durbin Feltman (3)

Summary
Despite a solid pitching performance from starter Evan Mitchell, the Akron RubberDucks could not overcome an early two-run deficit to the Portland Sea Dogs, losing 3-1 Friday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point
The Portland Sea Dogs scored a run in each of the first two innings, scoring the first of two on a Tate Matheny RBI single in the top of the first and scoring the second on Jarren Duran's fielder's choice which scored Jake Romanski. That two-run lead would prove to be enough for the victory over the RubberDucks, 3-1.
Mound Presence
Akron RubberDucks starter Evan Mitchell struggled in the first two innings before settling down to post a two-run, five-inning performance. Two early walks combined with two timely hits gave the Portland Sea Dogs the only two runs that Evan Mitchell would surrender in his outing, though he struck out three Sea Dog batters. David Speer was stellar in relief for the RubberDucks, working three innings out of the bullpen and only allowing a hit and a walk while striking out four Sea Dogs.
Duck Tales
The Akron offense came alive in the bottom of the 6th inning with back-to-back singles from Ka'ai Tom and Connor Marabell before Alex Call's double to the right field corner made the score 2-1 in favor of Portland. The Ducks would load the bases on a Nellie Rodríguez but could not capitalize and left three men on base. Akron collected seven hits and three walks against Portland pitching but could only push one run across as they stranded six runners on the base paths.
