Baysox Wash Senators in Wednesday Doubleheader, Win 8-1 and 2-1 to Take Series Lead

BOWIE, Md. (Aug. 5, 2026) — The Baysox swept the Senators in Wednesday's doubleheader, winning game one 8-1 and game two 2-1. Chesapeake held Harrisburg bats to only eight hits across the two games.
The Sens have plated four runs in the first three games played this series.
Despite the loss, the Senators jumped in front in game one in the first inning. Branden Boissiere singled with two outs, advanced to second on Kervin Pichardo's walk and scored on Ethan Petry's groundball single to lead 1-0.
But the Baysox slugged four home runs off LHP Alex Clemmey (L, 3-6) to cruise to a win.
Wehiwa Aloy hit a three-run shot in the first. Anderson De Los Santos blasted a two-run shot in the third to lead 5-1.
In the fourth, Brandon Butterworth added a two-run homer. The next hitter, Aloy, lined a solo shot to left for his second homer of the game to lead 8-1.
Clemmey allowed the eight runs on eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts in four innings.
RHP Ben Grable and RHP Joe Glassey each tossed a scoreless inning in relief in their Sens debut.
The first two innings of game two went quickly. In the third, Chesapeake hit three doubles off RHP Josh Randall (L, 3-4) to take a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth, the Baysox loaded the bases with no outs. Randall escaped the jam with a 3-2-3 double play and a flyout to left to hold the deficit to 2-0.
In all, Randall went 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
RHP Blake Brown followed, retiring the lone batter he faced.
Harrisburg got its first scoring opportunity in the fifth. Petry doubled to leadoff the inning and advanced to third on a flyout. TJ White reached on an error to put men on first and third with only one out.
But Chesapeake's starter Christian Herberholz got two fly outs to strand the runners.
The Sens got on the board in the sixth. Boissiere lined a solo homer to right field, his sixth home run of the season, to cut the Baysox' lead to 2-1.
RHP Kendeglys Virguez worked around two walks and a hit for a scoreless sixth inning, also making his Senators debut in the doubleheader.
Chesapeake held on for the 2-1 win.
Harrisburg aims for a rebound Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. LHP Josh Hartle (4-4) is scheduled for the start, making his Sens debut as well.
