Baysox Clinch Series with Senators, Harrisburg Falls Saturday Night 5-2

BOWIE, Md. (Aug. 8, 2026) — The Senators hit two home runs off top prospect RHP Anthony Eyanson (W, 5-0) but fell to the Baysox 5-2 Saturday night. Chesapeake clinched the series win, taking four of six games played so far this week.
Kervin Pichardo homered to the opposite field to lead off the second inning, putting Harrisburg in front 1-0. It was Pichardo's 10th homer of the season.
The Baysox answered with Victor Figueroa's leadoff homer in the bottom of the second off RHP Holden Powell, knotting the game 1-1.
Powell tossed the first two innings, allowing the one run, walking one and striking out two.
RHP Jhancarlos Lara (L, 0-2) came on for the third, working around two walks with a double play for a scoreless inning.
Back out for the fourth, Lara had men on second and third with no outs after a double, walk and a wild pitch. Frederick Bencosme hit a line drive double to rightfield to score them both and put Chesapeake in front 3-1.
After an out and another walk, RHP Sandy Gaston came on in relief of Lara. He walked the first hitter to load the bases with one out but struck out the next two to strand the runners.
The Senators got a run back in the fifth. Devin Ortiz blasted an Eyanson slider high off the videoboard in left-centerfield to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Gaston came back out for the bottom of the fifth and struck out the side on just 10 pitches.
RHP Kendeglys Virguez worked the bottom of the sixth. After a one-out walk, the Baysox' Tavian Josenberger hit a two-run homer to right to stretch the lead to 5-2.
RHP Ben Grable tossed a scoreless seventh. He struck out Wehiwa Aloy to open the inning on a slider that rolled to the backstop. Aloy reached on the wild pitch, advanced to second on another wild pitch and to third on yet another.
But Grable struck out the next three to strand the runner, striking out four in one inning of work.
RHP Thomas Schultz followed for the eighth, retiring the side in order and striking out one.
The Sens aim to finish the series with a win Sunday at 1:05 p.m. RHP Jack Cebert (2-3) is scheduled to make his Senators debut.
