The Setup: Pigs begin two-game set with Syracuse

The IronPigs and Chiefs begin a two game series tonight at 7:05 p.m.  

PITCHING MATCHUP

Drew Anderson starts for Lehigh Valley against John Simms for the Chiefs. The pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle.
Drew Anderson goes for his sixth win of the season tonight for the IronPigs. Anderson has won his last three starts and has worked into at least the sixth inning in each outing. Anderson has allowed only three earned runs in his last three starts. John Simms is making his fourth start of the season and second appearance against the Pigs. Simms was the losing pitcher May 2 when he allowed a pair of eighth inning home runs to Dylan Cozens and Andrew Pullin.

LAST GAME

Lehigh Valley chipped away at the lead in the third inning thanks to a two-out, two-RBI single from Damek Tomscha to cut the lead to just one run. Joey Meneses lead off the fourth inning with a double, paving the way for two more runs from the Pigs, capped off by a run scoring single from Alexi Amarista to put Lehigh Valley ahead. Amarista later collected his first home run this season in the seventh to cap a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
Tomscha widened the gap in the fifth inning with his second home run in as many games, but that lead would not last. Irvin was lifted in the sixth inning after allowing an RBI double to Chris Carter. Both Hoby Milner and Tom Windle blew save opportunities for the Pigs. The Wings scratched across two runs in the eighth inning against Windle (6-3) to sink the Pigs for good.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Pigs are 4-2 against the Chiefs this season and 1-2 at Coca-Cola Park. The Pigs single home win came was May 2, when they rallied back from a 5-0 deficit and Dylan Cozens set a franchise record with three home runs in one game.
The IronPigs and Chiefs will play a home and away four-game set. The Pigs will host the first two games of the series followed by a pair of games in Syracuse July 4-5. Following this series the teams will make one more trip to each park in August.
