The Pulaski Yankees are headed to the Appalachian League Championship Series for the first time in franchise history. The pinstripers will face either the Elizabethton Twins or the Greeneville Astros on the road Thursday night to begin a best of three series that will determine the Appalachian League Championship.
The Yankees will host their opponent on Friday night at Calfee Park and will host game three on Saturday night should the series be tied at 1-1.
The pinstripers were on the brink of elimination after the Bluefield Blue Jays took the first game of the Appalachian League East Division series by a score of 6-5. But the Yankees took game two by a 6-4 margin before squeaking out a 2-0 victory on Monday night to advance to the Championship Series. Dalton Lehnen pitched six shutout innings to earn the win and Garrett Whitlock tossed three innings of scoreless relief to pick up the save.
Elizabethton and Greeneville will square off tonight at Joe O'Brien Field to determine the winner of the Appalachian League West Division Series. The Yankees went 4-2 against Greeneville during the regular season and had a 3-3 mark against Elizabethton.
