A Pulaski Yankees game continues to be one of the hottest draws in Southwest Virginia.
The largest crowd in Pulaski Yankees history showed up last Friday night at Calfee Park. 3,572 fans came out to see the Yankees take on the Bluefield Blue Jays.
The Yankees have averaged over 2,300 fans per game during their first two home stands of the 2017 season which is best in the Appalachian League.
The Yankees front office announced last week that winning the Esurance Home Field Advantage Award for the second straight season is one of the organization's top goals. The award will be presented after the season to the team in the Appalachian League that fills the highest percentage of its ballpark's seating capacity.
"Friday night was a great night for the town of Pulaski and the families who live here. We hope that atteandance like this continues throughout the rest of the season providing the opportunity for expansion," said Assistant Manager Christina Edney.
The Yankees are on pace to lead the Appalachian League in attendance for the third straight year after averaging over 1,600 fans per game in 2015 and approximately 1,800 fans per contest in 2016.
The pinstripers return to Calfee Park on Tuesday, July 4th for their Independence Day matchup against the Danville Braves. Gates will open at 2:30 with first pitch set for 4pm. Tomorrow's game is sponsored by the Town of Pulaski and therefore all general admission tickets are free.
