Rancho Cucamonga, CA – One night after being eliminated from playoff contention in the first half, the Quakes took out some frustration on the Lake Elsinore Storm, posting a 24-9 win at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore.

Julio Carrion slugged a ninth-inning grand slam for Rancho’s final runs, helping to equal a franchise record in runs scored (24) that was set just one year ago in a home game against the Visalia Rawhide.

Luis Rodriguez fell a triple shy of the cycle, finishing with a game-high five RBIs. In addition to Carrion’s four RBIs, both Damon Keith and Austin Gauthier drove in four runs for the Quakes, giving them four players with at least four RBIs each.

On the hill, River Ryan started slow out of the gate, but at one point retired ten straight to notch his first win as a pro. Ryan (1-1) went a career-high five innings, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and just one walk.

Storm starter Jairo Iriarte (2-3) took the defeat, allowing six runs over three innings.

The Quakes (36-29) will send Huei-Sheng Lin (1-0) to the mound on Thursday night in game three of the six-game set. Lake Elsinore will go with right-hander Manuel Castro, who will make his Storm debut. Game time is at 7:05pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field to open their first home stand of the second half on Tuesday, June 28th, taking on the Visalia Rawhide for six straight. Tuesday will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, where fans can pledge to recycle ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans for a free Club Seat Ticket. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
