Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Modesto Nuts pulled off an improbable win on Tuesday, scoring nine times in the ninth inning to stun the Quakes at LoanMart Field, 15-11.

Madison Jeffrey and Christian Suarez (3-5) struggled in the ninth, as Modesto collected seven hits, but also capitalized on four walks and two errors in the ninth inning alone.

Rancho built an 11-6 lead after eight innings, but it all came crashing down in the ninth.

The first five Modesto hitters reached against Jeffrey, before Suarez was summoned. Suarez got a double-play ball and was one out away from wrapping it up, but things continued to spiral. Axel Sanchez tied the game with an RBI single and Walking Cabrera followed with a bad-hop single to left, giving Modesto the lead at 12-11. They’d add three more off Suarez before Carlos De Los Santos came on to earn the final out.

Riley Davis worked the ninth for Modesto and gave up back-to-back hits to Yeiner Fernandez and Dalton Rushing, respectively. But Davis settled in and got the next three hitters as Rancho left the tying run in the on-deck circle.

Modesto reliever Tyler Driver (6-0) gave up three runs in the eighth, including Nick Biddison’s second homer of the year, but notched the win thanks to the huge rally.

Rancho (21-22, 57-52) will look to stop their two-game skid on Wednesday night, sending Ronan Kopp (5-2) to the mound against Modesto’s Joseph Hernandez (7-4) at 6:30pm.

Wednesday is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as four-legged friends are welcome to join you at LoanMart Field with the purchase of a $3 Pet Pass. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
