Modesto, CA – The Modesto Nuts scored early and often, snapping a four-game losing streak with an 8-3 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field in Modesto.

The Quakes recorded only six hits, as Luis Diaz and Yeiner Fernandez each had two, but it wasn’t nearly enough, as Modesto scored in each of the first five innings, taking a commanding 8-1 advantage.

The only Rancho highlight came when Diaz blasted his team-leading fourth homer of the year, as the Quakes made it 8-3 in the seventh.

Rancho loaded the bases in the eighth with two outs, but came away empty and went quietly in the ninth.

Quakes’ starter Jerming Rosario (0-1) had a tough night, as he allowed four runs on five hits over just 2.2 innings in the loss.

Nuts’ starter Joseph Hernandez (1-0) went five innings and allowed just one run to notch the win.

The Quakes (5-5) will send Kendall Williams (0-1) to the mound on Wednesday in game two of the six-game set from Modesto. The Nuts will counter with Michael Morales at 7:05pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, April 26th, as they open a six-game set against Visalia. Tuesday will be our first Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can pledge to recycle ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans for a free ticket to the game. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
