Rancho Cucamonga, CA – Despite clinching the First Half South Division crown over the weekend and entering the six-game series against the Storm at LoanMart Field with nothing more to play for in the first half, the Quakes kept rolling on Tuesday night, winning their fourth straight game overall with a 3-1 victory over Lake Elsinore.

Dayton Dooney’s two-out, two-run single was the difference for an offense that collected just five hits in the win.

Rancho’s pitching staff was fantastic, as Payton Martin, Liam Doolan (1-0), David Tiburcio and Fran Castro combined to allow one run on seven hits.

Josue De Paula put the Quakes on the board in the first, scoring Kyle Nevin with an RBI double.

Dooney struck for his two-run single in the fourth, as the Quakes took a 3-0 lead over Storm starter Austin Krob (0-1).

Castro got into trouble in the ninth, as the Storm loaded the bases with two outs. Wyatt Hoffman struck out to leave them loaded though, as Castro earned his first save of the year.

The Quakes (38-26) have not yet named a starter for Wednesday’s game, while the Storm will throw left-hander Jagger Haynes (0-2) at 6:30pm. Wednesday is a Raising Cane’s Bark in the Ballpark, as four-legged friends are welcome to LoanMart Field with the purchase of a Pet Pass. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
