Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes got out to an early lead on Friday night, but allowed the Inland Empire 66ers to score the game’s final 13 runs, as the Quakes dropped a 13-5 decision at LoanMart Field.

The loss leaves the Quakes still three games back of Lake Elsinore with just five to play in the first half.

Rancho benefited from some command issues from 66ers’ starter Fernando Guanare, who walked three batters, hit a batter and fired two wild pitches in the second inning, helping Rancho build an early 5-0 advantage. An RBI single by Hector Martinez and sac fly from Luis Diaz helped put the Quakes in front.

Quakes’ starter Huei-Sheng Lin was solid over 3.2 innings, as he allowed two runs (one earned).

The Rancho bullpen had a tough night though, as Jhan Zambrano (1-1) gave up four in the fifth, as the 66ers took the lead for good. They added three more in the sixth against Osvanny Gutierrez, then put it away with a four-run ninth against Reinaldo De Paula.

Inland got four hits and two RBIs from B.J. Boyd and two hits and three RBIs from Jeremy Arocho to help lead their 18-hit attack.

The Quakes (33-28) remain three games back of first-place Lake Elsinore in the South, with just five games to play in the first half. On Saturday, Rancho will send Ronan Kopp (3-2) to the mound against Inland Empire’s Alejandro Hidalgo (0-3). Game time is 6:30pm.

Saturday is Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond Night and there’s also post-game Fireworks thanks to the Best Western Plus Heritage Inn. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
