Lake Elsinore, CA – After seeing their league-best ten-game winning streak come to an end on Friday, the Quakes got back in the win column on Saturday, not once, but twice. Rancho swept a double-header from Lake Elsinore, winning 10-0 in game one before hanging on for a 4-3 victory in game two at the Diamond.

Game one saw three Rancho pitchers combine for a five-hit shutout, as Payton Martin, Jared Karros (1-0) and Jon Edwards helped earn the fourth shutout of the year. Nick Biddison reached base all four times and slugged his third homer of the year to pace Rancho’s 12-hit attack.

Game two was much more intense, with Thayron Liranzo clubbing a pair of two-run homers off Storm reliever Manuel Castro (1-1) to put Rancho in the lead for good.

Trailing 4-2 in their final at-bat, the Storm got a run off Jeisson Cabrera, but with the tying run just 90 feet away and the winning run at first, Graham Pauley struck out looking to end the game, giving Cabrera his third save of the year.

The Quakes (19-17) have now won 12 of their last 13 games, including four of five in the current series. They look for an incredible 11-1 road trip on Sunday, sending Peter Heubeck (0-2) to the hill against Austin Krob (0-0) at 1:15pm.

The Quakes will be on the road until Tuesday, May 9th, when they’ll return to LoanMart Field for a six-game set against the Stockton Ports with a special Education 11am Day Game to kick off the series. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
