Rancho Cucamonga, CA – A five-run first inning set the tone for Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday evening, as they led from start to finish in a 12-8 win over the Inland Empire 66ers at LoanMart Field.

Rayne Doncon swatted his first August homer and finished the day with three RBIs, helping the Quakes to a second straight win over their division-rivals, in their final regular season meeting of the year.

Doncon’s 13th blast of the year capped a five-run first inning against Inland Empire starter Jorge Marcheco (7-4), giving the Quakes a 5-0 advantage.

After Inland Empire scored three times in the fourth off Rancho reliever Gabe Emmett (6-6), the Quakes answered back, scoring the next four runs. Thayron Liranzo homered in the fifth, his league-leading 19th of the year to make it 6-3. Luis Rodriguez then capped a three-run sixth with a two-run double, making it 9-3.

Inland answered again in the seventh, ripping back-to-back home runs off Reynaldo Yean to make it 9-6.

Rancho got those three back in the eighth to build a 12-6 lead. Rodriguez capped a three-RBI day with a double and later scored on a Jose Izarra single to complete the inning.

Livan Reinoso tossed a scoreless eighth, but gave up a two-run double to Angels’ rehabbing catcher Logan O’Hoppe, making it 12-8. Reinoso buckled down and got the final outs of the ninth, earning his second save of the year.

Rancho (18-24, 57-51) will take Monday off, then head to Visalia to open a six-game series against the Rawhide on Tuesday at 6:30pm. Game one will have Roque Gutierrez (0-3) starting opposite right-hander Casey Anderson.

The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 22, taking on Lake Elsinore in a six-game series. Tuesday will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can log on to our website and learn how to score a FREE Club Seat Ticket to the game. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com...Go Quakes!
